Fifty million girls have been eliminated from India's population in the last century.

 In the last 20 years, 10 million girls have been killed by their families either before or after they were born and over 7,000 lose their lives daily,

Why is there so little coverage about this issue in the media?

Why in a county where goddesses are worshipped, are girls so detested by their parents that they choose to murder them in the most horrific fashion?

Why is this continuing to happen despite the booming economy?

India's 2011 census reveals that this genocide continues unabated and the ratio of girls to boys is the lowest since India's independence in 1947. The UN has warnedthat this is leading to an increase in violence against women, trafficking and child marriage.

 The Petals In The Dust : India's Missing Girls documentary film intends to address all the above to get the attention of both the Indian and Global communities.

With cinematography capturing both the turmoil and beauty of India, with regards to its women, coupled with personal and heart-wrenching interviews, Petals In the Dust will engage the audience while emphasizing the message that this unsettling issue cannot be ignored.

Petals In The Dust also organizes annual campaigns called the 'Global Walk for India's Missing Girls' across the globe on International Women's Day to raise awareness and walk for the girls and women who are victims of this genocide.
