Low-income schools, and the educators that work in them, struggle to teach large amounts of students who are falling behind, while meeting the needs of each individual student so that they meet academic standards and graduate. MyTeacherMap helps teachers identify which skills each individual student is missing, and then provides a lesson plan to teach that skill.
MyTeacherMap is an online learning management system that generates customized, remedial, lesson plans for students. By scanning a completed student-assessment into the MyTeacherMap system, having a student take an assessment online or using technologies such as a SmartBoard to capture student responses to a list of questions, the MyTeacherMap system captures student assessment results and automatically grades the assessments. Then, MyTeacherMap generates an individual report of student understanding, which draws attention to the exact skills the assessed student is missing. The skills one student is missing are connected to the skills another student is missing. Students are grouped together if they are struggling to learn similar skills. Then the system automatically searches through a repository of high quality lesson plans that teach to that particular skill and notifies the teacher with a list of lesson plans appropriate to the particular needs of individual and small groups of students. Last of all, MyTeacherMap tracks student growth over time and provides a measure of how many grade-levels or how many skills a teacher is able to help a particular student learn, helping a teacher to measure their students incremental growth over time-which may be different than how a student scores on grade-level standardized tests. This sort of incremental growth is graphed in various reports available to parents, teachers, students and administratorss

While this application is intended to be about GPS for Learning’s first product-line, MyTeacherMap, it is important to understand that GPS for Learning has an expansive vision for products and services that would reach all stakeholder’s involved in the educational community of low-income schools. GPS for Learning’s second product line, MyAdminMap, will utilize data gathered from MyTeacherMap about a teacher’s ability to increase student growth as compared to other teachers’ abilities to increase student growth. Teachers are automatically connected to other teachers who have been proven to teach certain skills successfully. In this way, MyAdminMap helps school and district administrators track educator effectiveness and encourage self-motivated professional development amongst teachers because it connects an educator who may be struggling to teach a particular skill to teachers who are successfully teaching that particular skill.
MyStudentMap, uses data about student performance gathered from MyTeacherMap to generate differentiated online instructional videos and computer games sent directly to student accounts, useful to students to play during small group learning time.
Last of all, our third product-line, MyParentMap, uses data about student performance gathered from MyTeacherMap to generate differentiated homework packets and behavior scores sent directly to the emails and phones of parents.
