Company description

Mapflow is an expert in the area of the application of ITS technologies to help improve the performance of the road infrastructure. We work with public and private sector organisations responsible for (or dependent on) our road infrastructure; we help such organisations to free up congestion, improve public and private transport efficiency and reduce fatal accidents.

We do this by developing technology, knowledge and expertise related to the utilisation of GPS/GNSS, GIS (mapping) and communications technologies to design and implement solutions in the following areas:

  • Road safety including intelligent speed adaptation;
  • Shared transport including dynamic ride sharing;
  • Capacity planning, journey time monitoring and traffic flow monitoring;
  • Road pricing, such as congestion charging and other distance based pricing schemes;
  • Value added service delivery such as traffic alerts, event alerts, real time passenger information;
  • Rescue and recovery.

Business model

Avego.com is where travelers cooperate to make the whole transport system more efficient, saving us all money, wasted time and reducing pollution.

A 5-seat car traveling with only a driver is inherently inefficient, and yet 85% of the time, that's how cars travel in much of the world. With our iPhone GPS technology, web services and your participation, we can fill up those empty seats.

As a driver, by putting Avego in your car, you are becoming part of the public transit system... and cutting the cost of your transport by perhaps thousands of dollars per year! As a passenger, by using Avego you can leave your car behind... cutting the cost of your transport and taking advantage of HOV lanes (where available). Avego is an innovative, user-based system to reduce energy consumption, greenhouse gases, and traffic. Once membership grows to a reasonable scale, riders will be able to book a request at 7:30am and get picked up by a driver going the same direction a few minutes later. Join our network by clicking the Login tab above and then registering. You'll receive updates on the upcoming release of our iPhone beta software. You'll learn how you can become an Avego Ambassador by identifying "Avego Stops", the best places to pick up and drop off riders. And you'll help define our product roadmap.
