Grassland Meats, Inc. (or “the Company”) is a startup venture that will sell grassfed beef to food distributors and wholesalers. The Company’s mission will also help preserve ranching communities andconserve local natural resources. Grassland Meats will incorporate in Delaware in May 2010. Its headquarters will be in Wallowa,Oregon.
Grassland Meats will meet the growing demand for high-quality, safe, healthy, and flavorful grassfed beef raised without the use of feedlots. The Company’s beefwill come from “feedlot free” cattle that consume only grass and never grain. The beef will contain lowerlevels of fat, pesticides, fertilizers, and deadly antibiotic-resistant formsof E. coli.
The Company’s grassfed beef will have fewer calories than feedlot beef and the same fat content as skinless chicken breasts. Additional health benefits include highlevels of healthy omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin E, and Beta Carotene. These characteristics will allow the Company to address consumers’ environmental and health concerns.
Grassland Meats will travel to small cattle ranches, slaughter the cattle and store and dry age the beef. The company will sell the dry aged beef to a wholesaler. This process allows for meat processing efficiencies that the individual ranchers cannot match.
