Syndesis™ is a cloud based Healthcare Information Technology (HIT) service connecting healthcare providers, diagnostic centers, hospitals, pharmacies and patients. Our mission is to provide physicians with dynamic patient information enabling them to use a comprehensive medical record to improve patient care and maximize profitability. Syndesis™ Services
Our cloud based health information platform enables small to mid-sized medical groups1to improve overall operations. Syndesis™ solutions increase efficiency and reduce cost by providing three core services: (1) Health Information Exchange (HIE), (2) data repository, and (3) insurance eligibility verification and pre-authorization.
Market Need
Health Information Exchange (HIE) is the only reliable means by which patient information can be shared among disparate electronic medical record (EMR) and other health information systems. However, most HIEs are hospital focused and too expensive for small to mid-sized medical groups to afford. This lack of broad physician participation in HIE results in a failure to capture critical health information essential for continuity of healthcare. Additionally, existing HIEs do not support patient participation and therefore exclude another source of essential information. Finally, many of the existing HIEs have proven to be unable to continue operations without ongoing financial support from government programs.
Team
• CEO and Co-Founder – Dr. Raymond Raven is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon with subspecialty fellowship training in Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery. He is managing partner of Orthopedic Surgery Specialists based in Burbank, California where his business management, organization leadership and industry expertise has enabled year upon year of growth. It is in large part due to Dr. Raven’s understanding of healthcare challenges and needs that led to the genesis of the idea that is Syndesis™; UCI EMBA ’13.
• COO and Co-Founder – Dr. Omid Akbari is a medical doctor and serial entrepreneur. Dr. Akbari has founded and successfully run three international trading companies. His latest venture, Farzan Rad, is a health food product development company that reached $15 million in revenue fueled by internal growth. Asineh Pharmaceutical was a market development venture for biopharma products. Other ventures include a startup ISP broker and bandwidth clearing house that introduced data, Voice Over IP and internet services at a national level in the Middle East. Dr. Akbari has 14 years of Executive Management experience in Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Operations and Finance; UCI EMBA ’13. As COO and interim CFO he will oversee Sales and Marketing and General Administration and Finance.
• CIO and Co-Founder - Murtaza Masood, Mr. Masood is a proven executive in technology product development, consulting and IT operations. He has over 12 years of leadership, strategic objective management and overall client services experience. Mr. Masood has command of enterprise software design and implementation leveraging best of breed applications in compliance management, information governance and business process engineering space. Mr. Masood and Dr. Raven together formed the basic concept of Syndesis™ and gave shape to the offering. Currently he serves as Vice President of Engineering for a local healthcare information technology company; UCI EMBA ’13. As CIO he will oversee Product Development and Technology Operations.
• Advisor - Ralph Stern is on the advisory council and his experience has benefited the founders immensely in shaping our value proposition and plans. Mr. Stern has held multiple executive positions in publicly traded companies. He founded Care Credit, the largest consumer finance company serving the specialty health care markets. He served as CEO of the company until it was sold in 2002 to GE Capital.
Business model
We will derive our revenue from subscription fees and professional services. Subscriptions fees are based on a monthly service fee to access the Syndesis™ network of physicians. Subscriptions plans will be either single or multi-year agreements. Professional service revenue consists of one-time fees for implementation and training.
Based on market research and comparisons with similar companies, the lowest fees being charged today are $1,250 for implementation services and $200 per physician for a monthly subscription. The highest fees are $20,000 for initiation and $2,000/mo per physician. Syndesis™ revenue model comprises of $3,500 for implementation services and $300 per month in subscription fees. These rates are in the mid range of competitive pricing.
