Company description

Butterfly Books publish picture books aimed at raising awareness of careers to children from a young age (3 to 7 years old). We aim to reduce national skills gaps as well as reduce gender bias in various professions and work closely with specialist industry organisations to ensure the correct message and technical content is delivered in all of our books. Illustrated by Marissa Peguinho, these colourful rhyming picture books introduce children to the exciting world of Engineering, Plumbing and Science. The books aim to open children’s minds to the broad range of career options available to them when they are older, and can also be a fun way for parents to explain to their children what they do at work.

Business model

Long tail

Competitive advantage

The competition is other children’s career themed picture books.  There are currently very few career themed picture books.

Butterfly Books Competitive Advantages

  • Research behind each book through working with industry specialists ensures technically correct content and covers themes that are of concern in each industry
  • Something people can relate to and want children to know about
  • Background story of the founder (black female engineer), who is passionate about the cause due to own experiences as a minority in her industry
  • Competitors are less interested in the skills and gender gap problems

Due to the current demand for books encouraging gender diversity and little available on the market, Butterfly Books titles will only compliment any existing books available by the competition.
