HALCYON Post-Crash Intelligence, a patent-pending technology, lets vehicles that have been involved in a crash “talk” to emergency responders that are en route to the incident scene. HALCYON Post-Crash Intelligence cannot prevent a crash, but it can keep vehicle occupants safe after a crash occurs.
If an emergency occurs, emergency responders get ZERO information about the vehicle occupants’ current health, meds or allergies, next of kin, insurance, or emergency contact information. HALCYON closes this critical post-crash data gap. Employers can expect faster returns to work after a crash and lower costs to care for employees that have been hurt while driving. Seniors can keep driving cars independently, longer. If a crash occurs, care providers will have access to critical information that those who have been impacted by an incident might not be able to communicate...but which can have an enormous -- even lifesaving -- benefit to the triage process when received by emergency responders before arriving at the patient's side.
HALCYON’s value will rise further as autonomous driving enters the mainstream and ridesharing keeps growing. We will be able to add value to older cars, too. The TAM is over $7BB, based on a 2011 Fortune assessment of OnStar’s standalone value (OnStar is only available for GM vehicles, whereas HALCYON can work with almost vehicle built since the early 1980s).
With a subscription business model inspired by Sirius Satellite Radio, Twilio, and OnStar itself, HALCYON can be licensed and layered onto existing telematics applications to share data with Fire & EMS agencies covering an estimated 90% of the United States. HALCYON Post-Crash Intelligence enables emergency responders to offer more targeted care, faster than if they have to start from scratch when they arrive at the incident scene. This can lower morbidity risk, reduce employers’ liability, and help employees return to work faster. Employers bear enhanced responsibility when employees are traveling for work purposes. For companies that pay for their employees' rental or hired cars—and buy extra liability coverage in case the car is damaged—HALCYON offers a way to also keep the people in the car safe. Rental coverage protects the vehicle, but if an emergency occurs, emergency responders get ZERO information about the vehicle's occupants’ current health, meds or allergies, next of kin or emergency contact information. Not only single competitor is focused on providing data about the occupants of a vehicle to EMS after a crash occurs. We have validated this through interviews during the second half of 2016—culminating with a survey of Connected Car offerings at the 2017 Consumer Electronic Show. We have had discussions with GM, Ford, Nissan/Renault, BMW, Tesla, and Uber, and with telematics companies OnStar, Verizon, and Automatic. Existing applications offer details about vehicle(s) that were involved in a crash and can summon roadside assistance. But only HALCYON offers details about the vehicle's occupants to the emergency responders who are en route 0to the crash, in a format that can be consumed by the charting software that these emergency responders already use to document care in the field. Even ridesharing companies that know passengers’ identities, payment details, and location provide zero information to EMS following a crash. The principal barriers to entry are the technical and regulatory requirements of the EMS industry itself, in which BLT is already a leader.
