In 2007 42,000 people applied to medical school not really knowing what it's like to be a medical student, much less a doctor.  They had to spend at least two years taking difficult classes that they may have had no interest in, just in order to get the chance to apply.  Less than 18,000 of them got in, and of those that got in, many would regret just a few years and several thousand dollars of debt later, that they hadn't.

AwesomeMed is a pre-medical program that teaches classes and topics that are taught in medical school at an intensity level found in medical school so that students can know much sooner if a career in medicine is something they are truly cut out for.

Combining the web-based technology of sites like Kahn Academy with the community and excitement of Lexington's Awesome Inc incubator, AwesomeMed aims to give potential medical students a positive and accurate experience that truly equips them, emotionally and intellectually for the medical school experience.
