About
Company description
Notches is a distributed platform for reviews. We provide reviews technology, data and an ecosystem of applications and tools to allow partners to outsource their reviews and for individuals to get more out of them.
Team
Tim Marman, Founder & CTO. He spent nearly nine years at Goldman Sachs engineering service-oriented architectures, building flexible and scalable systems, and dealing with very large datasets. Tim has a B.A. in Computer Science from Hamilton College and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law.
Business model

We offer the platform for free and make money by leveraging the data generated by the network. We offer powerful technology, tools and data to partners to no cost, which enables us to build a unique, valuable database. We leverage this unique asset through real-time targeting information, maven/influencer identification, brand monitoring, alternate outputs, and affiliate sales.

Some of our products also have a "freemium" components to them, where partners pay for certain upgrades.

Competitive advantage

We are disrupting an existing market for companies that outsource their reviews. Several competitors have been successful offering an expensive, paid service for reviews to e-commerce companies. We intend to disrupt this market by offering our service for free; by being open and offering flexible licensing of the data; and by being self-service and easier to integrate.

We also have a broader data set to be applied in more contexts. E.g., we support local events, products, services, and everything in between.
