John Payne (CEO):
John Payne is the CEO of CircleUp, Inc. and brings 20 years of experience in markets focused on consumer and small business Internet applications, enterprise software, Internet security, wireless communications and handheld technologies. In addition to his role at CircleUp, John also serves as the chairman of Breach Security and SimpleAir Holdings.
CircleUp is John’s fourth startup as a founder or co-founder. His extensive management experience includes serving as CEO of two public software companies including Stamps.com (NASDAQ: STMP), where he led multiple private and public financings including the company’s $65 million IPO and $365 million secondary offering. Prior to CircleUp, John served as CEO of Concentrate, Inc., an interim management consulting company which services early stage technology ompanies and their investors in jumpstart
and turnaround situations, and sat on information security company Preventsys’ board until
its recent acquisition by McAfee (NYSE: MFE). He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics
from the University of California, Irvine and is the inventor of numerous issued and pending
United States patents in the areas of wireless Internet broadcasting, regulatory and
corporate compliance and network security.
